A Very Merry Christmas

Ella had a wonderful first Christmas in Jackson with friends and family. We packed up the car with baby, presents, and dogs and made the trip with no problems. It was a quick trip even though we spent a full week with grandparents, with 3 dogs a 7 month old, 3 grown kids and constant company for the Metzner grandparents, I am sure they were worn out after we left! Ella had her first picture taken with Santa Claus, you will never guess where we went to have the "picture made!" This was a suggestion from one of Malia's friends and David still cannot believe Ella had her first picture with Santa at....Bass Pro Shop! We all admitted, it was a nice set up and no line. Ella did make a trip to the doctor while in Jackson for a double ear infection, she did get VIP treatment from Granddad's hospital and she is well on the road to recovery. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!

Pictures

We had Ella's 6 month "photo shoot" a few weeks back and wanted to share a few pictures with everyone. She woke up very happy but was a bit camera shy and did not want to smile for any of the pictures, I guess the life of being a model can be exhausting. Hope everyone is enjoying the Holiday Season.

Green Peas....Yuk....Getting Ready for Christmas

I hate green peas! No more peek a boo!

Dressed for Santa. Sitting up is cool.

Decorating for Christmas with a 6 month old makes things a bit more "interesting" and also time consuming. Gammy Pelly was here for a few days to help in the process as we are hosting a Sunday school Christmas party this weekend, thank you to Gammy for her help.
Ella had her 6 month check up and is tipping the scales at an even 20 pounds and 27 3/4" long. During her check up she had another round of shots and they made her feel a bit blue. Then we tried a new food and from the pictures she is NOT a fan of peas - and her mom made dad play peak-a-boo and it scared her, needless to say it was a rough day for the little one. Stay tuned.

Happy Thanksgiving & 6 Months Old

We made our first official road trip to Jackson for Thanksgiving, we started packing and gathering up the various items to bring about 4 days prior to our departure date, things have definetly changed, well at least for Malia who usually packs the night before! The dogs also thought things were different as their room in the back of the Tahoe has shrunk replaced with toys, blankets, teething rings, etc. Overall, the drive was very managable - we will be doing it again in a few weeks for Christmas.

Ella thought she had hit stardom once we arrived as the poparazzi were in droves taking picture after picture! Everyone keeps saying this definetly is your first child and first grandbaby! Malia and David always wondered why there were so many more pictures of John and Tom. Ella had a few play dates - one picture shows her reaching for Malia's friend Courtney's child - Reece. Let's hope her early interest in boys is just a phase. Enjoy the pictures and Happy Holidays to all.

Halloween and 5 months old!

Ella had a great Halloween, she first celebrated with some friends at her house along with some of her grown up friends. She had her "boy friends" over - and we stress just friends that are boys! There was Lands the Lion and Dylan the Chicken - Ella fit right in with the lobster costume. The kidos enjoyed the evening at our 2nd Annual Metzner Spookfest - we had a houseful - the festivities included a pumpkin carving contest and costume contest. Ella also celebrated Halloween at her day care - all of the kids were dressed in costume.
Crazy to think she is already 5 months old! She has really found her voice too, she is constantly making funny screeches and sounds. We just sit and laugh with her when she gets going, she is making so much noise, she can no longer sit with us in church. We made another step with Ella as she is now attending the church nursery on Sundays. Enjoy the pictures! We know, we know, the picture of Ella demonstrating her Milwaukee heritage is bad, we could not resist!

Baptism...Pumpkin Patch....Rice Cereal !!

Ella officially became a child of God as she was baptized on October 5th. Grandparents made the trip from Jackson and Ella's God parents - Rob and Kathryn celebrated in the event. Ella also had friends and family take part in the ceremony - she is one loved baby! October 5th also marked DeeDee and Granddad's 40th wedding anniversary! They celebrated with a cheers with plastic champagne cups! What great role models for us all and a special day all around.

This past weekend with Rob and Kathryn we made our way to a pumpkin patch in Woodstock, GA. Ella even got her own pumpkin - we did not know until after making the trek with some large pumpkins we did not know they price by the pound, maybe just pictures there next year.
Ella also started rice cereal - it was a sight to see - we think she is just fond of any type of food or at this point anything she can get in her mouth. From toys to toes they all eventually find the way to her mouth. Enjoy the pictures!

Sip ' n ' See

In true Southern tradition (yes, the Yankees have adopted well in South) Ella had a Sip N See held in Jackson a few weekends ago. The party was at the Metzner house and friends (all the way from Texas) and family (all the way from St. Louis) were invited to "sip" wine (or tea) and "see" Ella. She did great!
Ella's first trip to Jackson was a first in many ways - first airplane ride where she slept the entire hour on both legs of the trip - first swimming lesson - first time to meet all of her little friends in Jackson - and the list could go on.
We have another big weekend coming up where she will be baptized this Sunday so stay tuned.

Visits from Uncles and 3 months old!

What a great August! We have had visits from Malia's friends, Grandparents and Uncles. Both Tom and John made the trip to Atlanta to visit Ella - one from California and one from KC (actually Tom really can't call anywhere home with his travel schedule). As you can see from the pictures, one uncle maybe is a little more comfortable with children than the other...can you guess who...? (He is actually putting on a good act in the picture).
Ella is now officially 3 months old and doing great! She has been sleeping through the night, but really don't want to talk too much about it so we don't jinx it! She lights up our lives with her smiles and coo's - she is such a different baby compared to just 3 months ago, just crazy.

She has started day care and officially will begin the full days on Tuesday as Malia heads back to work, it will be difficult after such a great and wonderful 3 months at home with her. David's travel schedule has really moved into full swing and makes things a little "interesting" for both him, Malia and Ella - an adjustment for all. Enjoy the holiday weekend.
