Thanksgiving / Christmas / Etc.

Ok, so we have been really bad lately at keeping the blog updated! So much has happened with our little girl who is now 20 months old, Malia turning 30 and celebrating an almost surprise trip to NYC (ask Linda why it was not a complete surprise), and the list could go on...crazy! We also did not think Ella kept us busy enough so we are expecting #2 (Baby B) August 9th! Very exciting news for the Metzner Family. All is wonderful with us and we continue to wonder how we are so blessed by God with such great family, friends and church. Enjoy some pictures!

End of Summer

Well, it's been a long time since our last update and Ella is still managing to keep us on our toes! We spent a week in Destin with Malia's parents, brother and girlfriend (love her!) and David's parents--all under 1 roof! No, we are not crazy and a great time was had by all. Except for 1 little 2 1/2 foot tall person. Depsite our many attempts, we could not get Ella to like the sand. We learned that she can be even more flexible and pull a move we later dubbed a "suspended toetouch". As you can imagine, this got lots of laughs from all 8 of us. Eventually, she came around and decided walking around on the beach is a lot more fun than sitting on a towel on the beach. She loved the ocean. Since the beach, we took a trip to Minneapolis for a wedding and have just been enjoying the end to summer and the beginning of fall. Ella started her new preschool at our church and we all LOVE it. She comes home every day with new art projects and we are convinced that we have a future artist on our hands. We've never seen such impressive work with stickers. We are just loving life with our almost 17 month old and she's developing more and and more of her personality every day. Enjoy the pictures!!!

Summer Fun!

We have been having a great summer! From swim lessons - Ella was in the "Shrimps" class - to a trip to the lake, the zoo and St. Louis for a Pelly family gathering it has been a blast! We do have one more summer trip planned to the beach at the end of August. Ella is now mobile - meaning she is walking everywhere - so this has been an adjustment as she is into everything. No need for toys when pulling everything out of the cabinets is so much fun. The dogs are becoming a little quicker too as she loves her puppies and giggles with glee every time she sees them or gets a hand on them. Enjoy the pictures!

Father's Day & New Pictures

We had a wonderful Father's Day, actually all of the fathers were in Atlanta for the weekend - Kurt, Jerry, and David. The Pellys and the Metzners finally made good on a Christmas present from Malia and David and we all attended Jersey Boys on Saturday night. Great time! A few of the new pictures are from Ella's 1 year old photo shoot - she was being a ham some of the time but she was unhappy for some of them as a few more teeth are beginning to pop through, ouch! Ella is having a great summer - she had her DeeDee and Gammy stay with her for 4 nights as David and Malia went to CA. Then next week Granddad and DeeDee are staying with her for 3 nights when we head to Milwaukee for July 4. She is changing everyday and we never imagined life could ever be this much fun! Till next time...

Ella's 1st Birthday

Ella had a wonderful first birthday party! Friends and family celebrated in the event - we had a house full! She started the day in her nice birthday dress but ended the day in her tutu and covered in frosting. She did a great job on her "smash cake" and really went to town, David had issues with Ella having that much frosting and sugar, but Malia a fan of frosting herself, was proud of her little girl! Ella finished the day unwrapping present after present from our more than generous family and friends. One of her favorites - was the scooter - one of her least favorites - Elmo. We won't tell her that her grandparents gave her a toy that made her cry :) She is showing more interest though. We have been so blessed this past year to have a healthy and sweet wonderful girl, we are excited about this year and can't imagine how it could be any more fun!

Trip to Jackson

Ella made another plane trip as we headed to Jackson for a wedding - actually the wedding was in Hattiesburg so both sets of grandparents got some babysitting time with Ella. We think she is still wondering where the people who spoil her went and when are they coming back?! At the grandparents’ house she was greeted with a new toy, fun new clothes, and sweet treats not to mention full run of the house. How could she imagine going back to live with her parents? We know she did miss her "daa daa daaa" as she points and refers to her dogs and shrieks with excitement every time they come near – ok she does call everything “daa daa daa” but we think she is trying to say dog and she really does love to play with them. We are making the finishing touches for her first birthday party – ensuring not to go over the top - we don’t want to be parents featured on my “Sweet 16” reality show when that milestone rolls around. Enjoy the pictures.

11 Months Old and Counting!

Ella is almost to the year mark as she celebrates her 11 month birthday tomorrow. She has 4 teeth - and note home from school proving it too. She got her first note home from school saying she bite another child. When we told the story to her grandma DeeDee she said the other child should not have stuck her fingers into Ella's mouth - of course "god's only grandchild" would never bite another child! Some of the pictures below are from "Baby Day" at church a day dedicated to all the babies born at our church this year - 160! There were around 7 born in our Sunday school class alone.
Ella made another plane trip to Jackson this past weekend while her mom and dad attended a wedding. Both sets of grandparents were amazed by her power hour of eating breakfast and lunch, she can really pack it away. The one picture shows just left overs on her face. We are grateful to have such loving grandparents who took care of Ella for a few nights. We continue to fight ear infections as Granddad took Ella into the ER at Baptist for a quick look in the ears and she has her 3rd ear infection since January, tubes are in her future. Nothing else to report. Enjoy the pictures.

Where has the time gone?

Sorry, we have been really bad about updating the blog...so much has happened with Ella since our last post. She is almost 10 months old and is in the beginning stages of crawling - she does get lazy and needs to rest now and then, moving those legs is hard work! She is pulling up on everything and a very happy and busy baby. She now has a total of 4 teeth and will let you know what they feel like if you dare to let your finger get too close to her mouth. We had a few visits from grandparents in the past months and a few that are on the calendar coming up - Ella loves her grandparents and they love her. The pictures are some very recent shots (last Saturday) of our little one compliments of my manager's wife, we promise to be more on top of the blog updates moving forward!
